Hello everyone - life certainly can be very trying. My op was a success everything was where it was supposed to be etc.. the surgeon was pleased and told me I can now weight bear... When I got home and tryed it, I felt something in my heel and was covinced it was one of the screws used in the op.. It was incredibly painful to put any weight on it. I phoned up the hospital who confirmed to me that it probably is one of the screws!!! I can actually feel the shape of it with my hands So now if it doesn't settle down ( which she assured me was pretty normal and it should do ) I will have to go back and have another general anaeshetic to have it removed Problem is how long should I leave it? I have told work I will be back in on Tuesday. But hey ho at least the op was a success Hope you guys are all doing well Kelly x

Oh what a shame Kelly! I'm glad the op was a success and I hope the loose screw is just a minor set back which can be quickly sorted out. Not sure how long you should give it to settle down though.
Love, Doreen xx

Hi Kelly
You must feel really disappointed with this setback, after all you've been through. I'm not sure how long you should wait before getting in touch with the nurse, I would think no more than a week or two.
Let us know how you get on.

Hi Kelly
I'm really sorry to hear this, especially as it is healing well.
I agree that you shouldn't even be thinking about going back to work until all this is sorted out.
Why not have a word with the GP ion Tuesday if it still hasn't settled?
Take care
Love Jeanxxxx

Ooo you don't need this Kelly. When I had a screw put in my toe I was told that in time it may become visible, at which point they could take it out but this hasn't happenend so far. YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

0h, Kelly, what a rotten thing to happen, and certainly not something you'd expect. Glad the op was a success though, but this must have been such a disappointment. Anthea x

So sorry to hear this Kels, I understand how you feel about the pressure of going back to work but you must put yourself first this time for the longer term benefits of the op. Have things settled down at all yet?

Thankyou everyone for your kind words No it hasn't settled down and it's making me so distressed. I left a message for the hospital to contact me Tuesday morning, so I guess I will have to wait and see what they think. I'm going to buy some cushioned insoles today and hope they helps short term. I've also got to contact work, which I'm really worried about. Oh well never mind - things could be worse! Much love to you all

This is outwith your control so work will have to accept it. Hope that you get something done as it is not a lot of use not being able to walk on it.
Take care, hope that someone contacts you tomorrow. If not, I would follow Jean's suggestion and contact your GP.

I was just wondering, Kelly, whether they could remove this screw (if it doesn't settle) using a local or a spinal. Both would be much less stressful on your system.
Hope things go well tomorrow - will be thinking about you
Much love Jeanxxxxxxx

Hi Kelly,
Sorry to hear that your operation did not go as expected and hope when you see the doctors tomorrow that they will be able to help you. I would not worry about work, as there really is nothing you can do about it.
Hope you feel better soon,
love,
